A note from Ann - 8/4/09

Hello my sisters, brothers, friends and various communities,

I want to first thank my ancestors and each and everyone of your ancestors for all your support to raise up an elder for my elder initiation. The initiation process has surely just begun and much work is ahead of us all and I look forward to us working in community together.

The first several days down "THE RABBIT HOLE" was much like a physical death for me and one of the most challenging events of my life. I went in with all your support and intentions and read and reread them daily and a lot of times that was my connection to want to come back to you and my life, then I burned them in a sacred fire.

My heart is filled and I am still ingesting all the love and support. This weekend, 8/6/09, is Daughters of the Earth gathering please see website and sign up NOW before registration closes www.alisastarkweather.com. I will be bringing a grief ritual to this event and doing private African Divination readings as well as supporting the event in various ways.

My homecoming initiation event was great and overwhelming the love I felt from all of you. And I thank all of you who came and those who called sending your prayers and thoughts.

Many things are shifting and shaping and the one thing that I feel clear with right now to where I am is this,

" FROM THE BACK OF MY HEAD (now shaved bald) AND BEYOND THERE IS NO TRACE OF EXISTENCE."

AND

"FROM THE FRONT OF MY FOREHEAD ,FORWARD THERE IS UNCERTAINTY, UNKNOWING, HENCE THE STILL PLACE OF NOW"

Upon exiting out of the initiation Ann's first event, will be supporting the 5th Annual Daughters of the Earth Gathering, founded by ALisa Starkweather. Please visit the Daughters of the Earth website or register here. Ann will be welcoming all sisters who attend. She will be there, available to talk and be present with people and as much as she is able to share, she will share as a newly initiated elder.

We still welcome your contributions! Additional funds raised beyond the goal of $5000 will be used to cover expenses as Ann travels to different communities to bring ritual and healing to areas requesting healings through divination and through their intentions. Blessings!

Our world is thirsting. We thirst for community, for home. We thirst for tradition and the wisdom that only a lifetime of experience can bring... the wisdom of the elders. The elders... those who embody wisdom in a society, give roots to our society. The wisdom of the elders has been lost in many societies, replaced with an emphasis on the beauty of youth and the accumulation of material wealth. But the ancient ways are finding their place once again, finding their way back to make our communities, our villages, our global village, strong once again.
